A Takeout often has more files than your Google Photos library had photos. Here's what the extra ones are.
Edited copies

The edit has no JSON, so on its own it has no date. Takeoutfix gives it the original's date, place and caption. The suffix is in your account's language: -edited, -bearbeitet, -modifié, -editado, -modificato and others. Effects Google Photos made for you (-effects, -smile, -mix) are treated the same way.
You choose what to keep: both, only the edited copies, or only the originals.

These are usually two different photos, not copies, and both are kept. The counter can also appear as IMG_1305(1).jpg.json or IMG_1305.jpg.supplemental-metadata(1).json; Takeoutfix checks each form.
Album copies
Takeout puts a copy of each photo into every album folder it belongs to, as well as the year folder (Photos from 2019). The copy in the album may have no JSON of its own. Takeoutfix recognises the same file (same name and size) in both places, keeps one copy by default and lists the albums in the report. You can keep every copy instead, but photo apps will import them as duplicates.
Live Photos and motion photos

The video half of a Live Photo has no JSON of its own; it gets the photo's date. Both files are kept and dated, but a browser can't merge them back into one Apple Live Photo.
